It is really Kutchie's Key West/Kutcharitaville Cafe.........
The Place is World Famous for Serving the Best Cheese Burgers in the
Whole Wide World. It has been in business since 1976. I worked there
one summer while in college. It is owned by Kutchie Pelaez, known there
as Captain Kutch. The place is known as "the Island". Many famous people
show-up there all the time as well as folks from all around the world.
The burger is ground fresh each day from black angus beef. They are char-
broiled to perfection anyway you like, even rare. Kutchie has a secret
flavor to brush on all the burgers called magic. Everyone begs to know what
it is....they can't get enough of those cheese burgers. Kutchie calls his
cheese burgers Goody Goody's.
The Key Lime Pie is also home made and the best you could ever eat.
People take whole pies home with them. Guests always told me that Jimmy
Buffet gets his ideas from there. We did see him a couple times that summer.
Kutchie does all the art and signs in the place. We sold t-shirts by the
dozens, tourists can't seem to get enough of them.
Kutcharitaville has a full bar that stays packed all the time. The girls
of the server staff are called Kutchie Cutie's. What a fun group of folks to
work with. I really miss that place.
I highly recommend that you give Kutchie's a try whenever you get the chance. Tell Kutchie James sent you.
